NBI Clearance “Hit” Status
One of the most misunderstood parts of the process is NBI Hit Status.
What Is a “Hit” in NBI Clearance?
A “hit” occurs when your name matches or closely resembles an existing name in the NBI criminal database. A “hit” does NOT automatically mean you have a criminal record.
What Happens If You Have a Hit?
If a hit is detected:
- Your clearance will not be released on the same day
- You will be asked to return after 3 to 7 working days
- Further verification will be conducted manually
In some cases, applicants may be required to present additional documents.
NBI Clearance Validity
The NBI Clearance is valid for one year from the date of issuance. On expiry, you can renew your NBI Clearance online on its website. As per NBI Rules, you do not need to book NBI Online Appointment for NBI Clearance Renewal. You can renew it online and get your NBI Clearance delivered at your doorstep.
